OOTD: Darkness Approaching

Bomber Jacket - Dirty Harry Ltd
Shirt - Topshop
Leather Skirt - H&M
Brogues - Deichmann

Another Friday, another birthday dinner to attend. The title of this sounds a little creepy but really I just mean my outfit was basically all black apart from my bomber jacket, and I think it works! Black is probably the only colour you could get away with being the only colour in an outfit. I love this double diamond print shirt, I think it just looks really funky and works well with the skirt. As the skirt is mini, the shirt makes the outfit more covered. These brogues have been my most worn shoe this autumn, they literally go with everything and give any outfit that edge. They are also super comfy and were surprisingly affordable so I definitely suggest Deichmann for reasonably priced shoes. Finally, my burgundy bomber jacket finishes off any outfit and is my favourite item of clothing this fall.

Happy Tuesday!

OOTD: My Answer To Smart Casual

Overlay Dress - Topshop
Blazer - New Look

Necklace - New Look

Loafers - River Island
So Friday night for my friends birthday we were going out for a meal and the dress code was 'Smart Casual'. I absolutely hate this dress code because I have no clue was smart casual actually is. I feel like every piece in this outfit could be worn in a casual outfit and in a smart outfit, so what makes it smart casual? I had to settle for this, it may be a tad too smart but who cares! These are also all great pieces for Autumn. Firstly, this t-shirt overlay dress from Topshop. Unfortunately it is no longer online but I'm sure could be found in some stores as I only bought it about a month ago. I love the tile print and the colour scheme. The overlay style is also extremely flattering and is perfect for covering up a food baby from a big meal! The over sized monochrome blazer really works well with the dress, even though there is clashing of patterns. This jacket is perfect for the not-so-cold Autumn days and nights and can jazz up any outfit. I've also found that it is quite slimming, so great if you want to hide any lumps and bumps! I call this New Look necklace my Cleopatra necklace, it is just so magnificent. To my surprise it works with any outfit I put it in. The black and gold gives the outfit an edge, the perfect statement necklace! Finally, these burgundy loafers are perfect for day or night. Burgundy is my favourite Autumn colour, giving the outfit that autumnal feel.

So that is my Autumn answer to 'Smart Casual'. What are your favourite Autumn pieces? Let me know in the comments.

Tumblr Outfit Inspiration

I am permanently on Tumblr (I have to go on everyday otherwise a little part of me dies inside.) It's my source of inspiration, for home decor to ideas for building a fort, and of course for outfits. I see so many pieces of clothing that I would love to have hanging in my wardrobe on there, and seeing different outfits provides so much inspiration for how I style my clothes. So I thought I would write a post about some of the latest outfits that have inspired me on Tumblr

The first photo is probably my favourite out of the six. I have been seeing these eyeball print dresses all over the internet but I don't know where to get my hands on one! I just think the print is so cool, the light blue and the eyeballs work really well. The loose fit of the dress is also very flattering and I think the turtle neck gives the dress a real edge. I have also been loving white wedge sandals recently and they pair well with the light pink net ankle socks. The sunglasses really finish off the whole outfit and the gold and black frame is absolutely gorgeous.

The second outfit is one that I wear quite often, especially as we are beginning to see the Autumn weather. A kimono with a black long-sleeved top, black high-waisted jeans and boots is great for when it is a bit nippy outside but not cold enough to wear a proper jacket. The best thing about kimonos are that they make any simple outfit instantly stylish. I love throwing on my comfy Topshop Joni jeans, a top, and making it look presentable with my kimono, which also adds colour to an otherwise all black outfit. The floppy fedora is the perfect accessory to pull together this look.

The third outfit is absolutely gorgeous, I am so sad that I can't wear it now as Summer is over. The crop top and shorts co-ord with a shirt on top and hat create a casual cool look. The colours work really well together, the white and blue and grey are all subtle and almost blend making the pieces jell. The burgundy lipstick is seriously affective, making her lips striking while still really working with the outfit. I just love the use of colour here! Again round rim sunglasses finish the look off nicely and I will definitely steal this style next Summer.

This fourth outfit is definitely the coolest! A looney tune jumpsuit!!! The girl works it so well. A printed jumpsuit with a top underneath is a style I'm loving at the moment. The black on black is also quite affective with the bright colours of the looney tune print. Hats are becoming a bit of a repeated pattern in this post but again it is the perfect accessory for this outfit. Maybe it's a sign for me to buy a floppy black fedora. I the black loafers are adorable but, I am a loafers girl myself.

The fifth photo is slightly cheating as of course it isn't an outfit but I see this style all over Tumblr and I adore it! Black converse and jeans - perfection! The photo shows as well that it can be any colour jean and any style. I mean it just works. In my opinion black and denim always works but I don't know why I just love this match. It is skater chic and the perfect casual look. I am waiting for Christmas and hoping to find some black converse under the tree so that I can start mimicking this style.

The sixth and final outfit has a school girl feel to it but then also has a slight indie vibe. I really like the skater skirt and jumper look and this outfit really pulls it off. The grey jumper, black skater skirt, grey knee high socks, green brogues and black feather hat have a very Autumn feel and overall it is a very cool but comfortable look. I especially love the green brogues they look so soft and cute. A great Autumn look.

So there are my Tumblr outfit inspirations. What Tumblr blogs inspire your outfits? Let me know in the comments.

OOTD : A Summer Favourite

Blouse - Dorothy Perkins
Gingham Leggings - Topshop
Necklace - Topshop
Geek Shoes - Topshop
Satchel - River Island

Here is one of my favourite outfits of the Summer, every item in it is a must have for me. These gingham leggings have been a staple piece for me this Summer, they have definitely been shown lots of loving . I just love how suitable the pattern is for Summer but at the same time they are still something super comfortable for when I don't want to get my legs out. I have also got a lot of wear out of this blouse as it goes with absolutely anything. Again great for when I don't want all of my arms to be on show. The mint geek shoes are the best sandals in my opinion, great for when you forget to paint your toe nails! I just love the panels and as mint is a pastel colour I was obviously going to love them. A statement necklace sets off any outfit and this one is absolutely amazing. Pastel colours again and I adore the silver chain with the gold bugs. I can't not look at it without exerting a little cry of excitement. Finally the River Island satchel. This is a great little bag that is bigger on the inside than the out and is light as a feather on my shoulder. All in all a great outfit when you want to go Summer casual.

Want it, Can't have it - My Summer Wishlist

As a girl with no money I am constantly seeing things I want but can't have. Most of these things are clothes. I think internet shopping makes it worse because I can go on there whenever and I am constantly receiving emails about discounts that I can't even use!!! I feel Summer is the time I want to shop the most as there are so many different outfit combinations I could create. Therefore through my longing for clothing I have built up a summer wishlist for the unlikely event I suddenly come into some money (I'm hoping I find £1000 on a street corner.)

The first item on my wishlist is this lilac dogtooth co-ord from Missguided.

There are so many reasons why I love this. Firstly, the a-line skirt. I really like skirts in Summer as they make me feel so girly, free and feminine, but I find it really hard to find skirts that suit me. I like to wear high-waisted skirts so I feel this shape of skirt would suit me. The crop top would cover up my flabby bits, overall a flattering outfit. However the thing that draws me most to these co-ords is the lilac dogtooth print. I LOVE LILAC. It is definitly my colour this Summer. I can't even explain why, it's just a colour I love to look at and wear. I'm in danger of having an all lilac wardrobe I swear.

Proving my love of lilac, the second item on my wishlist is the lilac feather cross body bag from River Island. This is just adorable. It would be like having my own little fuzzy pet creature thingymebob on my hip! I have an obsession with River Island bags but I don't think I have ever wanted one of them this badly! The gold chain finishes the bag off perfectly and would be perfect for a Summer night out.

The third item on my wishlist is the smudge print tee from Miss Selfridge. The recurring theme of lilac continues! This top reminds me of clouds and marshmallows (perfection). As pastel colours are everywhere this Summer, as well as paint patterns, it is spot on trend. Personally I love t-shirt sleeve lengths for the days I don't want to reveal all my arms and remain a little covered up. This top is great for one of those British Summer days where the weather can't quite make up its mind - pair it with a statement necklace and you're good to go.

Ok so the fourth item on my wishlist doesn't have AS much lilac in it. These white abstract print slouch trousers from River Island are absolutely gorgeous, all the patterns and colours really work well together. The geometric prints and flowers complement each other so well and have a slight oriental feel to them. These are definitely my kind of trouser. Perfect for the days when you can't be bothered to get your legs out, or have to go out but just want to be super comfy. These would fit right in with my Summer wardrobe.

Fifth on the list is the blue abstract floral print swing dress from River Island. The blue in this is so serene and calming even though the dress has a busy pattern. I love the flower print - one of my Summer essentials is a floral print dress. The three-quarter length sleeves gives the dress a sense of individuality as I have not seen many dresses with sleeves like this on the high street. It again works well for the not always boiling hot weather of British Summertime. A swing dress is always so flattering, allowing you to pig out and no one be any the wiser , a definite staple piece!

Finally, I had to have a statement necklace on my wishlist. The sixth item is a green stone flower necklace from Topshop. The green and purple stones on this necklace are beautiful shades and arranged so delicately into their floral shapes. I feel this necklace would work with so many different outfits and pieces in my wardrobe. A good chain is hard to find and I love the gold chain on this piece. Another essential in a Summer wardrobe and a worthwhile accessory to purchase.

So there you have it my Summer wishlist. Let me know in the comments what items are on your Summer wishlists!

OOTD : Sunday Dress

Hello everyone! Today I thought I would do an outfit of the day post for you. I really want to try and do at least one of these a week and post regularly from now on, so fingers crossed I can do this! Yesterday I thought I would pop in to River Island quickly to have a cheeky peak at their sale and found this tribal print dress. I actually have had my eye on this dress for a while but never got round to buying it , so when I saw it had been reduced from £25.00 to £12.00 I knew it was fate! I loved the dress so much that couldn't help but wear it today.
Black Mixed Print Tunic - River Island

I paired this dress with another new purchase - more shoes from my1stwish.co.uk! I absolutely adore these white geek shoes, I think they are sooooooooo cute. They make me feel like a five year old again! Definitely a summer essential for footwear. Another favourite accessory of mine are frilly socks, these ones are from Topshop

Mimi White PU Geek Shoes
I hope you enjoyed this outfit of the day and had a great weekend!

My Go To Summer Heels

Hello Hello Hello! Today I thought I would share with you my go to Summer heels e.g the heels I will be wearing to every party in Summer as I can't afford loads of Summer heels. Sad face. So I was on the hunt for the perfect pair of Summer shoes, I wanted something that could be worn with a range of different outfits but at the same time had that Summer party vibe to them. I also really wanted white ridged sole heels as they are everywhere at the moment and I adore them. While on instagram I stumbled across an account called Public Desire which had gorgeous shoes. I followed the link to a website called My1stWish and found these beauties :
Lana Nude Beige Platform High Heels Shoes
I am in LOVE! They are just so beautiful. They are excellent quality, and even though the heel in 5.1" and the platform is 1.7" they are comfy and not hard to walk in. Believe me if I say they are easy to walk in they are because I am the queen of not being able to walk in heels. I am so happy I found this site as it doesn't just do great heels but cute flats as well. The nude and the white work well together and I feel I could wear these with loads of different outfits. Money well spent in my opinion!

Excuse my horrible feet

What are your go to Summer shoes? What is your favourite online shoe store?

Away With The Faeries

I have recently finished my Textiles Coursework, which took a lot of blood, sweat and tears (each of these are literal, I cut my arm with a hand-sewing needle and at times I was reduced to tears when I thought I wouldn't finish!!!) However all of this was worth it as I am so happy with the result. Don't take this in the wrong way as I am not trying to brag but I am just proud of myself for creating a garment that I know I wouldn't have been able to create a year ago. I feel this is a real achievement, obviously it's no way perfect and not everyone's cup of tea but I've never made anything as hard as this before! I love making garments and loved making this dress, which is why I thought I would share it with you.

For the coursework we had to create a design brief and mine was to create a prom dress inspired by the character of Titania from Shakespeare's 'A Midsummer Night's Dream'. Titania is the queen of the fairies and this brief was basically an excuse for me to create a fairy dress! I just wanted to make something that a fairy princess would wear. So without further ado hear are some photos of my dress:

I'd love to know what you think of the dress. Have any other of you been doing textiles coursework?

How do I begin?

I've been trying to think of something fun and interesting to say in this first post but I have absolutely not idea, so I'll just keep it simple. I just wanted to write a little introduction to my blog and what I want to do with it. I've been contemplating creating a blog for a long time now but have always put it off until I decided that I should just do it! The idea is for this to be a style blog however it may have a few lifestyle posts. I hope that you all enjoy what I post and thank you so much for taking the time to view my blog! I'm so new to this and would love any comments on how I can improve my posts or what you guys would like to see from me.
